Safety Measures Need To Be Implemented, South Korea’s President Demands

On Tuesday, South Korea’s President, Yoon Suk Yeol, demanded safety measures be aggressively implemented.

These safety measures need to be taken into account to prevent accidents with more people. The devastating Halloween crash in Itaewon killed more than 150 people in the capital. His office added the heartbreaking tragedy shows the importance of crowd management for similar events in the future.

In the cabinet meeting, Yoon states that the police have begun investigating the root of the Halloween rush disaster. Furthermore, the police are identifying how the visitors were trapped in Itaewon’s narrow alleys leading to many innocent deaths.

As of Tuesday morning, the death rate increased to 155. 152 were injured, and 30 of them were in serious condition. Approximately, 26 citizens from 14 countries were among the dead.

Yoon states, “We should come up with concrete safety measures to manage crowds, not only on these streets where this massive disaster took place but at other places like stadiums and concert venues where large crowds gather.”

The Halloween crush is one of the worst catastrophes that ever happened to the country after 2014’s Sewol ferry tragedy.

South Korea is in a period of mourning until 5 November.

We’re sending our heartfelt condolences to the victims, survivors and their families. May their souls rest in peace.
