Singaporean Man Fell Through Decayed Boardwalk, Injured In Penang

China Press reported that a Singaporean man, aged 40, was injured after he fell through a decaying boardwalk while on vacation in Penang, Malaysia.

The Singaporean man stepped on a decaying section of the boardwalk, which collapsed beneath his feet at Chew Jetty. He was on a vacation with his wife and eight other family members.

When both of his legs went through the crack, he suffered only minor scrapes and bruises. He also sprained his left arm while trying to use both hands to support himself. The pain from the injuries rendered him immobile for a while, reported China Press.

The wife said it was fortunate that her husband was still ” young.” since the effects may have been much worse for an elderly person.

Moreover, since Penang is such a popular tourist destination, the wife hoped the Penang local authorities would take preventive measures to ensure that similar incidents would not occur in the future.

The same incident happened to another tourist before

A local reportedly told China Press that the same incident happened to another tourist a few months ago. The woman was also injured.

For your information, Pengkalan Kota assembly person Daniel Gooi has been seeking funding for various jetty repairs and maintenance. For Lee Jetty’s maintenance and repairs, it has received RM100,000.

He also promised to follow up on demands to have Chew Jetty and Lim Jetty repaired.
