Thai Pick-Up Driver Who Anger An Elephant, Fine Up To RM12,681!

A pick-up in Thailand who angered a wild elephant while driving reportedly has to pay a fine of up to 100,000 baht (RM12,681). The elephant was in the Khao Yai National Park.

According to The Thaiger, on November 5th, a video was shared on a Facebook page and YouTube channel “Wild Animals at Khao Yai. The video, showed a pick-up car provoking a wild elephant on the road in Khao Yai National Park.

The pick-up car can be seen driving toward the elephant rather than waiting patiently for it to pass, as it’s recommended. The elephant was frightened by the pick-up driver’s antics, causing it to panic.

The pick-up car then went passed the elephant, came to a stop, and the driver stepped out with the door wide open to film the elephant. After getting the shots he wanted, the driver continued on his way.

Thai netizens condemned the pick-up driver’s action

Thai netizens were outraged by the pick-up driver’s offensive behavior. In addition, many pointed out that the driver was breaking the rules of the road. This is because there was too much noise and black smoke from the car’s exhaust. Moreover, some people have also expressed a somewhat harsh desire that the elephant had attacked the pick-up car.

Fine up to 100,000 Thai Baht (RM12,681)

According to the head of Khao Yai National Park, the driver disobeyed Section 20 of the National Park Act. This Act states that all visitors in the national park must comply with the orders and suggestions of the rangers. The head of Khao Yai National Park also added that the maximum fine is 100,000 Thai Baht (RM12,681).
