White Signal Light? This Car Enraged Road Users

Quiz time! What is the colour of the signal light on transportation? If your answer is ‘orange,’ you are absolutely right! Nevertheless, nowadays, people are becoming more creative in decorating their cars. No, it is not wrong to do so. However, it is wrong if your ‘decoration’ threatens someone’s life.

How can a decoration harm people? From a sharing on Twitter, @emrhqm uploaded pictures of a white Perodua car. Can you spot what is wrong with the car? Yes, the signal light is white, not orange! Although it seems cool at one glance, the white signal can harm people.

White is described as a light and smooth colour. What about orange? Orange is bright, thus that is why it becomes the initial colour for signal. So that people can see! That same goes for the color when we pull on the brake. The color would be red, which is also bright.

A Twitter user commented that the owner of the car only thinks of the car’s appearance, but not the safety.

Another Twitter user revealed that this signal colour is not the only one that threatens the safety of the road user. Some people use glimmering and flashing signal lights which could cause harm to others!

Therefore, what to do if we encounter someone who breaks the law of the road? Here we share the steps to report to the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ).

1) Write an email to aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my

2) Fill out your information as a complainant (name, address, identification card number, phone number)

3) State (your report, date/time, location, type of car, car registration number, proof (photo or video))

4) JPJ will warn the car owner with Notice 114. JPJ will meet the owner of the car for investigation.

5) If the car owner is found guilty, they will be fined Notice P22.

Besides the signal problem, people can make a report on:

1) cars that use the emergency lane

2) tailing other cars too close

3) cutting lines

For all road users, please follow the law of the roads. This is to ensure the safety of all people. Besides that, please report to JPJ if you encounter anyone who breaks the road law.
