Dhaka, One Of The World’s Most Populated Cities Launched Its First Metro Line

Dhaka is the largest city in the country of Bangladesh. Twenty million residents in the city have made the place congested and always busy with traffic. According to experts, the infrastructure that is available in Dhaka could not match the scale of the people.

There is a lack of public transport for people to commute and the problem is also connected to people’s reliance on their personal cars. Nevertheless, on Wednesday, the city launched its first metro line. The metro is hoped to ease Dhaka’s busy traffic, and help people commute from place to place.

The metro line project, known as Line 6, is a Japanese-funded project. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commenced the launching of the metro line and described it as a “milestone.” It is an improvement for the development of the country.

Moreover, the metro line provides train carriages that only can be ridden by women. For now, there are 16 stations connecting the northern zone of the city to the government offices and hospitals. The metro line will eventually expand to the cities until reaching the south.

The metro line is a step to prevent heavy traffic and accidents. The World Health Organization (WHO) recorded 3,000 deaths in Bangladesh due to road accidents every year. Thus, it is hoped that the people of Dhaka can make use of the metro line to lessen the risk of road accidents and traffic jams.
