According to a fire department representative, an estimation of 30 to 50 people could be missing, as told to the local media.

In the rescue mission, military police, firefighters, civil defence teams, and rescue dogs assist the effort. Additionally, they also help in the cleaning of embankments.

Thankfully, emergency services successfully located six survivors. The list includes the mayor of the coastal town of Guaratuba, Roberto Justus.

He expressed, “[The landslide] was horrible. The mountain just fell on top of us. It swept away every last car.”

Not only that, but the heavy rains caused flooding and flash flood in other coastal cities.

The official balance reported the landslide affects 680 people and more than 500 houses. It also destroys some of the houses.

The tragedy raised concerns by the locals about whether there could be further landslides. Moreover, it’s because the national weather service INMET has issued heavy rain warnings for some states in Brazil previously.
