How Do Visually Impaired People Know To Locate Path Walks? Tactile Indicators Help Them!

Have you ever wondered how visually impaired people managed to walk safely to a certain place, despite being unable to see? How amazing is that? They continue living their lives and do not let their disability from stopping them. That same goes for other people with disabilities as well.

According to @nadiatul_farhana on TikTok, visually impaired people managed to locate path walks safely thanks to tactile indicators. People might have seen the indicators somewhere but are unsure of their uses. Maybe some people are not even aware of their existence! No worries, it is better to know now, than to not know at all.

Let’s begin! In the video shared by @nadiatul_farhana, there are different types of tactile indicators. There are warning tiles and directional tiles.

Warning tiles will warn visually impaired people when the is a change in elevation or when the path walks ends or begins.

Directional tiles, help guide visually impaired people to take the route along the path walks.

Therefore, it is wise not to put any obstacles on the tactile indicators for their safety. Somehow, some people are too ignorant that they park their vehicles on the tactile indicators.

@nadiatul_farhana also shares that her husband once fell because of the obstacles being placed on the indicators. Luckily, he was not severely injured. However, it is still dangerous as it causes harm.

It does not take much to be a nice person. Therefore, if you see any obstacles on the tactile indicators, please remove them, so it is safe for visually impaired people to cross.
