A 6.4-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Türkiye And Syria, At Least 3 Are Killed

Due to the sudden quake, more than 680 people are injured in Turkiye and Syria.

According to Türkiye’s disaster and emergency agency Afad, the tremor happened at 20:04 local time (00:04 MYT). Then, the quake was followed by dozens of aftershocks.

The victims of the Monday quake were found in Antakya, Defne, and Samandagi. Furthermore, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu urged people to distance themselves from potentially dangerous buildings.

Not only that, but he added, 213 people were injured in Türkiye.

There were 32 aftershocks after the Monday tremor, and the largest was a magnitude of 5.8.

The situation was indeed chaotic. The team of rescuers and ambulances are trying their best to save the victims in the worst affected areas where the building walls have collapsed.

Heartbreakingly, there aren’t many structures left standing after the 7.8-magnitude earthquake on 6 February, including a bridge. Additionally, many cracks in roads have become an obstacle for emergency services to commute.

We hope the situation will be better. Our prayers and condolences to the victims and survivors of the quake. May God help them all.
