Something Big Coming Up? This Is You In A Nutshell

Do you realise something? Your behaviour changes completely when you’re about to take an important exam or go to your first job interview. Before this, you don’t even bother helping your mother in the kitchen or taking the trash out (unless your father asks you to). But when something big comes to your door, you’re the first to wake up and do all the chores. Your parents might think it’s a miracle or the world is ending soon.

It’s funny and mysterious how the brain works. You’re afraid to do something wrong, fearing it would affect the results of what you’re currently doing.

Have you ever felt this way before? If you do, it might be a sign of anticipatory anxiety. It’s when you worry if bad things can happen to you.

And this video perfectly describes this anxiety. Read more about anticipatory anxiety here.

Although it’s a funny video, we believe many people experience this set of emotions before doing something important, let alone if it’ll change your life.

There’s a toxic mindset, “if you do good things, bad things must follow,” and “being too happy will make you sad.”

Talking from experience, actually, we become like this when we’re nervous about doing something new. We would do extra good things to ‘compensate’ the probability of facing sad or disappointing results. Weird, huh?

Luckily, we aren’t the only ones, though. Some of the commenters also did something similar. Whew! That’s a relief.

Well, it’s a different story once the ordeal has passed. For us, after a challenging time ended, we would just be very glad. Also, we ask ourselves, “What are you so emotional for? It’s nothing serious!”
