Everyone has their own speciality. For women: they’re given not six but seven senses, perhaps many more. Additionally, women are strong and independent individuals in society but also understanding and soft inside. Look at our mothers— even though they can be stern and resolute, they’re also very loving and caring.

Since 8th March is a fantastic day for women, some might not know the history. Understanding the root of the celebration can debunk the ongoing incorrect stigmas.

Shall we learn more about this celebration?

A brief history of International Women’s Day

Many countries in the world celebrate International Women’s Day. Generally, it’s to recognise women’s achievements without discriminating against their nationality, ethnicity, linguistic, cultural, economic and political views. On this day, women worldwide connect into the same spectrum.

Briefly, the celebration began in the early 1900s. The first National Woman’s Day was observed in the US on 28 February. Did you know? The Socialist Party of America designated this day in honour of the 1908 garment workers’ strike in New York. Women protested against the unfair treatment and dangerous working environment.

After many obstacles and hardships, more countries started celebrating International Women’s Day on this date. The good news was UN officially added the celebration to its calendar of observances in 1975! The women’s hard work and bravery weren’t for nothing. It was worth it.
