Malaysia Airlines To Resume In-Town Flight Check-In At KL Sentral

Beginning 1st September 2023, Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) is set to reopen the in-town flight check-in and baggage drop facility at KL Sentral Station. The reopening aims to offer air travellers convenience, time-saving benefits, and the luxury of arriving at the airport luggage-free.

As a start, this service will be exclusively accessible to Malaysia Airlines’ passengers upon the resumption of operations, and will be joined by other airlines subsequently. Travellers have the convenience of checking in for their flights and luggage drop at KL Sentral during the airline’s counter operating hours from 6:00 am till 10.00 pm.  KLIA Ekspres trains currently run every 20 minutes, with departures from 5:00 am to 12:00 midnight from KL Sentral.

Passengers who check in at KL Sentral will receive their boarding pass, and all their checked-in baggage will be security scanned and tagged to their final destination, just like in the airport.

Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERL said, “We are delighted to finally reopen the in-town flight check-in facility for our loyal passengers who have been asking for this service after the pandemic. With our passenger ridership growing, the time is right to restart the check-in services. When we first started operations back in 2002, Malaysia Airlines was the first airline to offer check-in services and it is only right to relaunch with them again.”

“With the in-town flight check-in, air travellers can avoid queuing at the airport and have more time to enjoy a meal, change currency or shop while waiting to board their flight. Passengers can rest assured that their baggage will be safely transferred to the airport, just as we had done in the past 17 years before the pandemic, with a near perfect record,” added Noormah.

Lau Yin May, Group Chief Marketing Officer from Malaysia Aviation Group, said, “As many seek to explore the world once again, our top priority remains in ensuring a safe and seamless end-to-end journey for our passengers, from the moment they book their flights right up to their arrival destination. With the resumption of ERL’s check-in services, passengers staying near the city centre are provided another avenue to conveniently check-in, drop their baggage and have it seamlessly transferred to their flight – allowing them to board the train straight to the airport fuss-free!

This is part of our continuous efforts to provide customers with flexibility and ensuring their journey is a seamless experience throughout. We have also curated various products to make the travel experience as convenient as possible, such as MHflypass products which allow three return trips in a year to Malaysia and ASEAN destinations, as well as through our various fare families that offer highly flexible and convenient perks, including free flight changes – empowering customers to tailor their itinerary according to their needs.”

To welcome back and thank its loyal passengers, ERL is offering RM10 off on their next purchase of a KLIA Ekspres ticket. The RM10 voucher, available for a limited time, will be given to each adult passenger who uses the airline check-in facility at KL Sentral and is valid for redemption until 31st December 2023.

Malaysia Airlines’ passengers travelling domestically or internationally who are using the in-town check-in facility must check-in at least 2 hours before their flight departure time.

Passengers can visit www.KLIAekspres.com for more information on the in-town flight check-in facility and our latest offers. The public can also get further assistance through Customer Enquiry at 03-2267 8000 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 6:00 pm), KLIA Ekspres Facebook and Twitter.
