Resorts World Genting: The Regal Dragon Awakens In A Grand Lunar New Year Celebration

This February, the magnificent and mystical dragon makes its noble entrance in ushering blessings and the dawning of a new year. In signifying prosperity and abundance for all Malaysians, Resorts World Genting (RWG) brings to life a myriad of dragon-inspired attractions to infuse good fortune and festive joy in an auspicious Year of the Dragon celebration above the clouds from now till 25th February 2024.

Garden of prosperity

Behold the fearsome golden dragon encircling a glowing orb, surrounded by gold ingots (yuan bao), Chinese bamboo, bonsai, French marigold and chrysanthemum at RWG’s iconic Kimhua Atrium! A colossal Chinese lantern bedecked with fairy lights and cherry blossom blooms hovers high above the resplendent centrepiece. The powerful symbolism of the mighty dragon coupled with the placid beauty of the Chinese rock garden certainly sets the stage to inspire your lunar new year Instagram stories.

From now till 25th February, visitors will get to meet and greet Genting’s Highland Heroes in CNY-inspired garb and enjoy performances by Choy San Yeh & The Fairies from 9 February till 18 February as they make special appearances at the atrium to spread abundant cheer and blessings.

Festive Gohtong Walk-about

Traverse the pathway of festive attractions and follow the dragon-themed procession at Gohtong Walk, a pleasant 1.28km festive route that leads to the best and most iconic spots at RWG awash with red lanterns, cherry blossom and an Instagram-worthy red, yellow and gold-hued Prosperity Tree!

What’s lunar new year without the deafening sound of firecrackers and an awe-inspiring parade rich in cultural traditions? Meet and greet Choy San Yeh and The Fairies to collect abundant luck for the coming year and marvel at the sight of eight magnificent lions and two imposing dragons in action at Central Park Loop on CNY Eve (9th February) from 11pm till 12:30am!

Awaken the Dragon – A Flying Dragon and Phoenix Show

An ode to the mythical dragon and ultimate highlight of the festivities at RWG is the spectacular never-before-seen celestial dance of a flying dragon and phoenix soaring in synchrony to the rhythmic beat of drums – a first of its kind performance in Malaysia that will take place from 9th till 25th February at the Lake of Dreams!
