Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya) and Syarikat Perumahan Negara Malaysia (SPNB) signed a historic Collaborative Strategic Agreement with the theme “Amanah Terpelihara, Kediaman Terbina” witnessed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Office today.
The agreement is set to benefit eligible Malaysians with household incomes below RM5,000.00 who purchase the SPNB’s Rumah Mesra Rakyat, where home owners will automatically be offered AmanahRaya’s Hibah and Will as part of legacy planning for the homes purchased.
“AmanahRaya, which has been given the mandate to be the Trustee for Malaysians for over 100 years, is heartened to be part of this strategic collaboration with SPNB. This initiative will provide exposure to the rakyat on the importance of Estate Planning and Wealth Management through Hibah and Will instruments to ensure the safekeeping of the estate of heirs and recipients. Indeed, it will ensure the welfare of heirs are protected in the event of demise of the home owners. This is also very much in line with the government’s Malaysia MADANI framework,” said AmanahRaya Chairman, Tan Sri Idrus Harun.
“SPNB is a company owned by the Minister of Finance (Incorporated) which was established and founded by the Right Honourable Dato’ Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister on 21 August 1997 to provide quality and sustainable affordable housing to every family in Malaysia in line with the national housing policy. This collaboration will provide added value to SPNB’s products, especially for the People-Friendly Housing Programme (RMR) which will benefit the house owners by ensuring the continuous house ownership by their heirs in the future with a payment as low as RM1,000.00. For this year, SPNB will be implementing a total of 3,500 RMR units. To date, we have implemented a total of 66,195 units of RMR houses nationwide,” said SPNB Chairman, Datuk Husam Musa.
The agreement was signed by AmanahRaya Group Managing Director, Encik Ahmad Feizal Sulaiman Khan and Encik Zahanuddin Kamarudin, SPNB Acting Chief Executive Officer. The signing was witnessed by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Tan Sri Idrus and Datuk Husam. Both AmanahRaya and SPNB are wholly-owned by the Malaysian government under the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MKD).
