Explore Vast Possibilities Of Ultra-Speed Internet To Increase Productivity, Efficiency And Innovations

The Ministry of Digital urges individuals, businesses, and organisations to explore the vast possibilities of ultra-speed Internet.

Speaking at the showcase of Malaysia’s first 10Gbps broadband by telecommunications and managed security services provider ViewQuest this afternoon, Minister of Digital YB Gobind Singh Deo said he would like to see more digital case studies from all sectors and industries, including those using ultra-speed Internet.

“This will give the public, and potential investors, a glimpse of our capabilities,” said Gobind at the event organised by ViewQwest.

“This ultra-speed connectivity demonstrates the advanced capabilities and benefits of 10Gbps Internet. It is also a testament of Malaysia’s fast and reliable Internet infrastructure, and its game-changing impact on Malaysia’s digital future.”

He said the benefits, and opportunities of such ultra-speed connectivity are aplenty, as a fast and realiable Internet connection is the backbone for economic development.

“Ultra-speed Internet will increase productivity, efficiency, and innovation across all industries, such as e-commerce, agriculture, education, healthcare, finance and even government services. Services and production will be 10x faster, if not more.

“More importantly, the Internet connects Malaysians. Such ultra-speed connectivity is crucial to empower Malaysians to be digitally-savvy, and use digital technology to its fullest potential, regardless their locality.”

He added that the introduction of such technology will result in the development of talents and digital trust.

“To support and manage ultra-speed Internet, there must be a highly trained and professional technical support team, and experts who are able to tackle potential cybersecurity risks.”

Gobind also called on businesses and individuals to protect their digital assets. He added the MADANI Government is committed to creating a digitally safe environment in Malaysia.

“The Cyber Security Act was passed in Parliament in April. Amendments to the Personal Data Protection (PDP) Act 2010 were passed yesterday in the Dewan Rakyat, to improve provisions relating to the processing of personal data to be in line with international standards and practices.

“Laws and policies to safeguard all parties are extremely important as digital technology continues to evolve. We need to create digital trust as more and more multinational companies are investing heavily in Malaysia, setting up data centres and digital facilities to further spur the nation’s economy.

He added these policy reforms, data-centric investments and infrastructure build-out were among the reasons that led JP Morgan to upgrade Malaysia’s rating from underweight to neutral.

“We are certainly on the right track,” Gobind added.
