Chan Ai Cheng

Chan Ai Cheng has been honoured as the Estate Agent of the Year 2023 at the recent 26th Convocation & Dinner organised by the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents, and Property Managers Malaysia (BOVAEP). The accolade was a testament to her significant contributions to the Malaysian real estate industry and her exemplary leadership.

The Estate Agent of the Year award is one of the highest honours in the Malaysian real estate industry, presented by BOVAEP to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession. The award recognises not only professional achievements but also a commitment to ethical practices, leadership, and the betterment of the industry.

Chan is the first second-generation President of the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) in its 50-year history, following in the footsteps of her father, Charlie Chan, who served as MIEA President from 1995 to 1997.

Chan said, “I am deeply honoured to receive this award, which represents both a personal achievement and a continuation of the values and standards that my father instilled in me”.

She added that this recognition reflects the collective efforts of those who have supported and mentored her throughout her career. The award also recognised Chan’s impact on the real estate sector, particularly her efforts to enhance professional standards, promote transparency, and support the growth of the industry through various initiatives.

Chan served as President of MIEA from July 2021 to June 2023, a period marked by significant accomplishments including increased memberships, raising MIEA’s visibility and influence among the public and strengthening the organisation’s financial position.

She launched resources such as the “Real Estate & You” e-publication and the D’REAM newsletter to provide practical guidance and resources for industry professionals. She also initiated the MIEA Certified Courses to elevate professional standards and education.  To assist small real estate firms, she developed the MIEA Agency Support Service to foster inclusivity and support within the industry.

Chan said, “This award is not just about individual achievements, it is about the collective effort to uphold and advance the standards of our profession particularly as new innovations are being introduced such as artificial intelligence.

“I am proud to be part of a legacy that values integrity, excellence, and service to the community”, she said.
