The Minister of National Unity, YB Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, officiated the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Bermalam di Muzium Perdana Program organized by the Ministry of National Unity through the Department of Museums Malaysia (JMM) at the Museum and Art Gallery of Bank Negara Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, today.
The Bermalam di Muzium Perdana Program is one of the main activities under the Citra Nusa@Muzium Program, which is a cultural heritage program centered on museums, aimed at involving the community from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
This program is intended to rejuvenate the younger generation’s interest in tangible and intangible heritage through the revitalization of museums using art and technology. A total of 2,222 secondary school students aged 13 to 17 participated in this program through 33 museums across the country, including 18 Federal Museums under the supervision of the Department of Museums Malaysia, 9 State Museums, and 6 Institutional Museums nationwide.
The 2024 Bermalam di Muzium Perdana Program successfully set a record in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the highest participation in a patriotic-themed poster drawing. The theme chosen by the students highlighted patriotic elements such as national heroes, historical buildings, and significant historical events. The record achieved was the “Largest Participation in Patriotic Themed Poster Making.” This recognition was awarded by MBOR during the MBOR Certificate signing earlier this evening.
The first-ever Bermalam di Muzium Program was initiated by the National Museum in 2005, in conjunction with the country’s independence month celebrations. The success of this program has inspired similar events in other museums under the administration of JMM and has even become a trend among museums across the nation.
In his speech, YB Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang called on the younger generation to strengthen their sense of patriotism and foster unity to ensure the independence of our homeland remains preserved and protected.
During the same event, Bank Negara Malaysia also launched the “MAG in Your Pocket,” a digital strategy for the Museum and Art Gallery of Bank Negara Malaysia, enabling borderless mobile learning. This application offers learning materials that can be accessed by anyone, anywhere, expanding access and inclusivity to financial education.
The event was also attended by YBhg. Dato’ Marzunisham Omar, Deputy Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, YBhg. Datuk Azman bin Mohd Yusof, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Unity, and Datuk Kamarul Baharin bin A. Kasim, Director-General of the Department of Museums Malaysia.
