‘We’ve Got You Covered. For A Life Uninterrupted.’ Hansaplast Champions Accessible Wound Care For All Through The First Aid Conference 2024

In celebration of First Aid Day 2024 on September 14, Hansaplast Malaysia, the leading expert in wound care hosted the First Aid Conference 2024, bringing together healthcare professionals, trade partners, and guests. The conference highlighted Hansaplast’s commitment to advancing wound care with the launch of its latest innovation, the ‘Scar Reducer’ patch, clinically proven to reduce the visibility of raised and keloid scars. Additionally, Hansaplast Malaysia and St. John Ambulance of Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote first aid education through the national “Wound Care Education Program” focusing on schools and communities.

“As the leading expert in wound care, we remain true to our brand promise ‘We’ve Got You Covered. For A Life Uninterrupted.’ From the minor scrapes and scratches of everyday life to more serious wounds, injuries can disrupt daily routines and affect both physical and emotional well-being. Hansaplast understands this and is here to help. Whether it’s turning tears into smiles after a small accident during a child’s playground adventure or providing essential post-operative care at home, Hansaplast offers high-performance wound and injury care tailored to specific needs. Our products, trusted in hospitals and at home, are designed for maximum effectiveness and quality, ensuring safe and swift healing for all. We are dedicated to offering effective treatment solutions for all types of wounds. From our standard plasters to XL range for larger, post-operative wounds, Hansaplast provides a wide range of products for safe, fast, and effective healing.” said Dr. Christopher Vierhaus, Country Manager of Beiersdorf Malaysia & Singapore.

“The introduction of the Hansaplast Scar Reducer patch represents our unwavering commitment to providing innovative wound care solutions, particularly addressing the needs of patient’s post-surgery. Our DNA is deeply infused with medical expertise, and we continually enhance our products through the latest medical innovations. We realize that most patients who undergo surgical procedures are often left to deal with the resulting scars on their own. The Scar Reducer patch embodies Hansaplast’s commitment to innovation and self-treatment at home, offering a simple and effective solution to improve scar appearance and help individuals regain confidence.” said Angeline Wong, Marketing Manager, Healthcare of Beiersdorf Malaysia & Singapore.

Dr. Clement Limus Apong, a Wound Care Practitioner with nearly 20 years of clinical experience in managing chronic wounds, shared his expert perspective on the newly launched Hansaplast Scar Reducer patch: “Research shows that 91% of patients undergoing routine surgical procedures desire better scar outcomes. The Hansaplast Scar Reducer patch addresses this need by specifically targeting hypertrophic and keloid scars — raised, red scars that can extend beyond the original wound site. Clinically proven to be effective, the Scar Reducer patch offers a triple effect approach to make scars flatter, softer, and lighter. Its transparent polyurethane patch enhances hydration, raises temperature in the scar tissue, and activates the skin’s natural regeneration process, reducing excessive collagen buildup. This non-invasive treatment effectively minimizes the visibility of both new and old hypertrophic and keloid scars, is safe for sensitive skin, and is free from side effects. Noticeable results can be seen in as little as 3 to 4 weeks, with significant improvement after 8 weeks of consistent use.”

At the MoU Signing Ceremony for the nationwide ‘Wound Care Education Program,’ Dr. Vierhaus emphasized, “By distributing wound care products and providing education through various channels, we aim to ensure that everyone has access to high-quality wound care. Our partnership with St. John Ambulance reinforces our commitment to empower individuals to take immediate action when a wound or injury occurs.”

Echoing this commitment, Dato’ Lai See Ming, Commander-in-Chief and Chairman of St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, stated, “Our collaboration with Hansaplast marks a significant step in advancing first aid education across Malaysia. The Hansaplast Wound Care Education Program is designed to equip students with essential wound care knowledge and skills, enabling them to respond effectively to injuries. This initiative perfectly aligns with our mission to build a safer, more prepared community.”
