AFC & FIM Empower Franchisepreneurs Towards Sustainability And Digitalization
Next year, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) will serve as the main stage for the simultaneous hosting of the most prominent franchise events in the region – ASEAN Franchise Convention (AFC) and Franchise International Malaysia (FIM), scheduled to take place in May 2025. This program will culminate with the adoption of several key declarations among ASEAN countries, signifying a collective commitment to strengthening the regional franchise industry. The convention also aims to establish Malaysia as the leading franchise hub in ASEAN.
With the theme Shaping the Future of Franchising in ASEAN: Sustainability, Digitalization, and Growth, AFC will focus on franchise sustainability, digitalization, and growth. This event is expected to be a key highlight for franchise industry players and aspiring franchise entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and gain deeper insights into this business concept through the activities offered throughout the program.
This program was inspired by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, as expressed during his speech at the Malaysia Franchise Awards Night, emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration in addressing new challenges and opportunities. The target audiences for AFC includes franchise industry players, licensors, investors, and government officials from ASEAN countries.
According to the Chairman of the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA), Datuk Dr. Radzali Hassan, MFA is committed to realizing the government’s goals and aspirations to further develop the Malaysian franchise industry, both domestically and internationally. In this regard, MFA is determined to ensure that every planned program is executed smoothly and successfully achieves its objectives, benefiting the entire franchise ecosystem.
“As the franchise association mandated by the government to promote the Malaysian franchise industry, MFA has developed various strategic initiatives to support the growth of this sector. Key activities include international franchise exhibitions, international franchise trade missions, specialized business missions, training programs, roadshows, engagement sessions, and others.
MFA also urges more franchise entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs to register as members. This is important so they can receive guidance, support, and comprehensive opportunities to succeed in the industry,” he added.
Meanwhile, FIM, now in its 32nd edition, will return with various exciting offerings, featuring over 100 exhibitors with 250 booths. Supported by the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP) and MATRADE, FIM 2025 has received recognition from the World Franchise Council (WFC) and the Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation (APFC).
“Various local and international franchise brands will participate in FIM, providing visitors with the opportunity to meet and engage with industry players. For some franchise industry players, FIM serves as the starting point to expand their franchise businesses widely,” said Datuk Dr. Radzali Hassan during the Launch of AFC and FIM in Kuala Lumpur. Also present was the Secretary General, Mr. Deric Yeo.
FIM2025, scheduled to take place from May 22 to 24, 2025, is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors, with a target franchise sales value of RM600 million.
