Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Celebrates 20th Anniversary With A Vision For A Dynamic 2025

Malaysia’s premier purpose-built business events destination, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), is marking its 20th anniversary with a bold vision for 2025. Over the past two decades, the Centre has hosted 21,825 events, welcomed 29,668,466 delegates, and contributed RM12.3 billion in economic impact, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of Malaysia’s business events industry.

With an ambitious roadmap and a drive for innovation, the Centre’s 2025 calendar is already shaping up impressively, with 60 international, regional, and domestic conventions and exhibitions confirmed so far. Additionally, over 70 corporate meetings and events are scheduled, collectively expected to attract more than 180,000 delegates. This represents the initial phase of the venue’s robust schedule, with further significant additions anticipated as the year unfolds.

John Burke, General Manager of the Centre, commented, “We are honoured to play a pivotal role in positioning Malaysia as a leading global events destination. The strong partnerships we have built, including with the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), are central to our success and we are confident that these will advance our efforts further enhancing Kuala Lumpur’s prominence on the international stage.”

Leading the 2025 calendar is the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC), returning to Malaysia from 18–20 February after an 11-year hiatus. Following this is the inaugural Malaysian hosting of the International Vulvovaginal Disease Update (ISSVD) on 25–26 April. From 12–19 July, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) General Assembly & World Chemistry Congress will spotlight the Centre’s ability to facilitate scientific innovation and sustainable chemistry in  a high-tech, sustainability-focused environment. Closing the year’s key events, the General Assembly of the International Social Security Association – ISSA and World Social Security Forum (WSSF) 2025 will make their Malaysian debut from 6 – 10 October.

Sustainability remains integral to the Centre’s growth, with energy-efficient meeting room upgrades, sustainable banquet options, and modern, versatile spaces ensuring the venue stays ahead of evolving industry standards. Key state-of-the-art upgrades introduced to enhance delegate experiences include advanced LED screens, such as the new panoramic 20.5m x 1m screen in the Plenary Hall, blending functionality with visual sophistication.

Environmental stewardship continues to guide the Centre’s operations, with a focus on protecting natural resources and fostering long-term societal impact through community and educational programmes. Aligned with ESG principles, the Centre is building a resilient supply chain through strengthened partnerships with clients and vendors. Under its Net Zero Carbon Emissions (NZCE) pledge, the Centre is also working towards achieving a 25% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.

“Our 20th anniversary is not just a celebration of our past achievements but a bold step into the future. The enhancements we have made, and our strong lineup of events reflect our commitment to delivering world-class experiences. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and remain dedicated to driving Malaysia’s growth through exceptional business events.”
