KLGCC Elevates Golfers’ Experience With Sir Nick Faldo Partnership

Sime Darby Property’s Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (“KLGCC”) was delighted to host golf legend and six-time Major Champion, Sir Nick Faldo, at an exclusive signing ceremony earlier this month. Sir Nick has officially joined as KLGCC’s new Golf Course Design Consultant, marking the beginning of an exciting journey to enhance the club’s East Course.

The signing between Sir Nick Faldo (“Faldo Design Inc”) and Jordan Ng, Director of KLGCC Berhad was witnessed by Tun Musa Hitam, KLGCC Club President; Datuk Syed Tamim Ansari Syed Mohamed, KLGCC Club Captain; Adam Calver, KLGCC General Manager; Axel Crua, Ambassador of France to Malaysia; B.N. Reddy, High Commissioner of India to Malaysia and Mark Adams representing Faldo Design Inc. Members of Sime Darby Property’s Board and senior management, along with KLGCC officials, members, and invited guests, attended the event to mark this significant occasion.

Expressing enthusiasm about his first project in Malaysia, Sir Nick Faldo highlighted his vision to elevate KLGCC’s East Course. Leveraging the existing natural landscape of the course, including its lush trees, water features, and appealing terrain, Sir Nick Faldo and his Faldo Design team aim to transform it into a golf course of exceptional quality, aligning with KLGCC’s standards.

Through this partnership, KLGCC will host two prestigious Faldo Series tournaments—the Faldo Junior Tour and the Faldo Futures Malaysia Qualifying Event. Open to Malaysian golfers, aged 7-21 years, the opportunity to engage in competitive golf within an enriching environment and pathway to gain international exposure, following in the footsteps of renowned Faldo Series alumni such as Rory McIlroy, Yani Tseng, and Malaysia’s very own Kelly Tan.

Sir Nick is also introducing the Faldo Futures for younger players aged 7 to 12, giving them an early and enjoyable introduction to golf competitions before progressing to the Junior Tour, which features 54-hole World Amateur Golf Ranking (“WAGR”) events. This initiative offers aspiring golfers a structured pathway to compete at the highest levels, culminating in the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final.

Guests at the event enjoyed engaging moments with Sir Nick Faldo, including autograph sessions and photo opportunities, creating lasting memories for all in attendance.

Established in 1991, KLGCC is renowned for its world-class facilities and lush greenery, strategically situated just 8km from Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant city centre. Its championship courses have notably hosted major tournaments, including the PGA TOUR, European Tour, and LPGA events, all within a single year for three consecutive years. The West course at KLGCC is currently the host venue for the LPGA’s highest prize purse in Asia – the Maybank Championship.
