Castrol Malaysia has successfully completed the latest phase of its nationwide initiative to raise awareness and empower emerging drivers and riders on the importance of engine oil in vehicle performance and longevity.
The Unleashed Youth Simracing Championship, sponsored by Castrol and organised by Cove Circuit, concluded its final event at Sunway Pyramid on 17 August. Over 400 participants from all over Malaysia competed for the top spot, as the country’s best emerging sim racers delivered thrilling, edge-of-your-seat action. The Male Division Champion claimed the RM6,000 grand prize, while the Female Division Champion took home RM3,000, both displaying exceptional skill, focus, and determination. In total, a RM30,000 prize pool was awarded, with the remaining rewards shared among the top 9 finishers in both divisions.
The 2025 edition marked a milestone by introducing an all-female category for the first time, underscoring the brands’ shared commitment to inclusivity in motorsports. Over 349 participants competed in the male category, while the female category drew a strong showing of 93 racers, demonstrating a growing interest in simracing among women.
Fans were also treated to a celebrity race featuring Malaysian motorsports icon Leona Chin, singer Ismail Izzani, content creator Taufiq Hannafi, and other local personalities.
The championship was part of a broader initiative that blended motorsport excitement with practical engine care awareness through a series of university roadshows. The initiative connected with over 2,000 attendees across five Klang Valley universities, plus members of the public in Penang and Johor Bahru.
Interactive experiences at these roadshows demonstrated how selecting the right engine oil – such as Castrol EDGE can enhance power, acceleration, and engine durability, delivering 30%* improved performance versus tough industry limits. Consumers in Penang, Johor Bahru, and at the Sunway Pyramid finale also enjoyed exclusive promotions on Castrol EDGE and Castrol MAGNATEC products, with special discounts throughout the events.
“This year’s activation demonstrated our commitment to shaping the future of mobility by championing the next generation of drivers,” said Gan Wee Kiong, Market Sales Director of Castrol Malaysia & Singapore. “By combining hands-on engagement with high-performance technology like Castrol EDGE, we hope to have inspired emerging drivers to take greater ownership of their vehicle care while deepening their appreciation for innovation, responsibility, and performance.”
Adding to the year’s excitement, Castrol drew strong attention at the third installation of Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur (TASKL), which welcomed over 100,000 visitors to the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC). Malaysian automotive art sensation Zameer Pentbrush captivated audiences with a live painting of the iconic Nissan Silvia S14 JDM legend in a striking Castrol livery, celebrating speed, style, and performance. The Castrol showcase was alive with interactive activities and giveaways, giving visitors the chance to win enticing prizes.
Castrol Malaysia remains committed to creating more opportunities for all to explore their passion for driving and motorsports, while continuing to promote awareness about the role of quality engine oil in vehicle performance. The brand looks forward to further expanding its outreach through future initiatives that cultivate expertise and empower the next generation of drivers and riders.
