ZTE Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Multimedia University (MMU), paving the way for new talent development initiatives in 5G, AI, and digital transformation.
The announcement was made at the launch of MMU’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence & Engineering (FAIE) in Cyberjaya, officiated by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, and Higher Education Minister Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir also in attendance.
What the partnership means
MMU becomes an authorized training & exam center for ZTE Certification, covering 5G, AI, wireless, core networks, and more.
Certifications are tiered into Associate (ZCIA), Professional (ZCIP), and Expert (ZCIE), enabling learners to grow from foundation to mastery.
450,000+ professionals worldwide have earned ZTE certifications — now, Malaysian students and industry players will gain the same globally recognized advantage.
Why it matters
This collaboration bridges academia and industry, giving MMU students, faculty, and local ICT professionals access to world-class training and skills that boost employability both locally and globally.

Prof. Dr. Ooi Chee Pun, Dean of FAIE, added that the MoU fits MMU’s mission to produce future-ready graduates, opening doors for globally recognized certifications.
A growing partnership
This isn’t ZTE and MMU’s first collaboration. Together, they have:
Established the MMU NexGen Communication Engineering Hub (2023) with advanced labs and research programs.
Organized the ZTE NextGen 5G Hackathon (2024), drawing students nationwide.
Rolled out AI and Cybersecurity upskilling programmes (2024–2025) for Malaysia’s public sector.
With this new MoU, both parties are doubling down on their commitment to grow Malaysia’s ICT talent pool and strengthen the nation’s digital future.
