Quirky Characters Take Over the Streets: “WOW Taiwan” Hits Malaysia with OhBear & Monkiddo

Taiwan Tourism is turning heads (literally) on Malaysian roads! With the launch of its “WOW Taiwan” 2025 Taiwan Tourism Vehicle and Bus Advertising campaign, 200 e-hailing cars and 12 double-decker buses are now wrapped in bold, colorful designs featuring Taiwan’s mascot OhBear and Malaysia’s beloved Monkiddo characters.

For the first time, the campaign goes beyond KL and Selangor to light up the streets of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The goal? To inspire Malaysians to see Taiwan in a fresh, exciting way.

A Creative Collaboration

Local illustrator Jayee Lim reimagined OhBear as a dynamic tour guide alongside Monkiddo in traditional Malay and Kadazan attire. The result is playful yet packed with cultural meaning, blending Taiwan’s landscapes, food, and heritage with a Malaysian twist.

Three Designs, Endless Stories

  • Retreat2WOW: Alishan Forest Railway + cherry blossoms = pure romance.
  • Discover2WOW: Taipei 101 meets hot springs and hydrangeas.
  • Adventure2WOW: Sanxiantai & Vase Rock set to indigenous music.

Spot & Snap to Win!

For the next three months, Malaysians can spot these WOW Taiwan cars and buses across KL, Selangor, and Kota Kinabalu. Snap a pic, share it online, and you could win exclusive prizes while discovering the charm of Taiwan.

At the launch, Safwan Nazri and travel creator Jason Phang joined in to share their love for Taiwan’s scenic spots and vibrant culture.

Meanwhile, Taiwan officials highlighted the campaign as part of its “Taiwan Tourism 100 Spotlights” initiative, celebrating the island’s natural beauty and cityscapes.

So if you see OhBear and Monkiddo on the move, don’t just wave, snap a shot. Taiwan’s calling, and it’s looking more colorful than ever.
