Orient Star Unveils M45 F8 Moon Phase Watches Inspired by the Night Sky

Orient Star has added two new timepieces to its Classic Collection M45, the M45 F8 Mechanical Moon Phase Hand Winding models. The launch includes a regular edition and a limited edition of just 140 pieces, both inspired by the beauty of the night sky and the slow, graceful passage of time.

The regular model captures the calm glow of the moon in a quiet night, while the limited edition takes a more celestial turn, portraying the Pleiades star cluster (M45) alongside the moon, a sight that has long fascinated astronomers and watch collectors alike.

A Collection Inspired by Time and the Universe

The Classic Collection M45 reflects Orient Star’s signature themes: the vastness of the universe and the eternity of time. The new M45 F8 models embrace a minimalist approach, guided by the idea of “a graceful passage of time.”

Instead of visual clutter, the watch relies on:

  • Hour and minute hands only
  • A power reserve indicator
  • A refined moon phase display

Together, these elements create a calm, uncluttered dial that lets time move at its own pace.

Two Dials, Two Different Stories

Regular Model (White Dial)

The regular model features a white dial that evokes moonlight cutting through the stillness of night. A fine radial pattern and a thick, clear coating give the dial depth and gloss, while the blue leaf-shaped hands stand out with classic elegance.

Notably, the watch skips a second hand and scale markings on the moon phase and power reserve displays a deliberate choice to express a slower, more relaxed flow of time. The dial is protected by dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, offering a clear, uninterrupted view.

Limited Edition (Grey Gradation Dial)

The limited-edition model dives deeper into the cosmos. Its grey-to-black gradient dial depicts the mysterious glow of the Pleiades star cluster overlapping with the moon, a theme previously explored in the 2024 M45 F7 model.

The dial features a stamped star pattern, layered printing on Roman numerals for added depth, and silver dots representing the brightest stars. Grey hands with mixed mirror and hairline finishes complete the celestial look, giving the watch a rich, almost otherworldly presence.

A New Hand-Wound Movement at Its Core

Both models are powered by Orient Star’s newly developed in-house calibre F8A62, a hand-winding movement designed to match the collection’s refined simplicity.

Key highlights include:

  • 70-hour power reserve
  • Silicon escape wheel
  • Slim profile for a more elegant case design

Through the see-through case back, wearers can admire Geneva stripes inspired by star trails, a crescent-shaped window, and a revamped moon phase display featuring a mother-of-pearl moon set against a shimmering night sky.

With its careful craftsmanship and poetic design, the new M45 F8 models continue Orient Star’s tradition of blending astronomy, artistry, and timekeeping into a watch made for quiet moments and long nights under the stars.
