AEON Expands East Coast Footprint With First Store in Kuantan

AEON CO. (M) BHD. (“AEON”) continues to expand its presence on the East Coast with the opening of its first supermarket in Kuantan, Pahang. The 49,331-square-foot supermarket, located on Level 2 of East Coast Mall, Kuantan, is expected to become one of the city’s key shopping destinations.

The opening ceremony of AEON Kuantan was officiated yesterday by Dato’ Amizar Abu Adam, Pahang State Executive Council for FELDA Affairs, Cooperative & Entrepreneur Development, together with several members of the AEON Leadership Council. The opening reflects AEON’s ongoing expansion initiatives and its role in supporting the development of the retail sector while contributing to broader economic activity in the state.

Tsugutoshi Seko, Deputy Managing Director of AEON, said that AEON Kuantan has been strategically positioned as a key shopping destination, particularly for residents of Kuantan and the surrounding areas. With AEON Mall Kota Bharu in Kelantan as its existing presence on the East Coast, the opening of AEON Kuantan further expands AEON’s regional network. AEON is also confident in the strong performance of East Coast Mall, supported by its strategic location in Kuantan city centre and its stable footfall. AEON’s presence in East Coast Mall is expected to further enhance its position within the East Coast retail landscape.

AEON Kuantan offers a wide range of fresh and quality grocery products, including household essentials, fresh produce and seafood. The offering is enhanced by a selection of chilled, fresh products and food options, such as AEON Delicatessen, Coco Cafe, and La Boheme, catering to the preferences of today’s consumers. A well-planned product layout also provides greater convenience and a more comfortable shopping experience for customers.

To enhance payment efficiency, AEON Kuantan is equipped with innovative retail technology, including self-checkout (SCO) counters and smart trolleys. Flexible delivery and pick-up options are also available through the myAEON2go service.

AEON remains committed to its expansion and asset enhancement initiatives to support sustainable long-term growth. In December 2025, AEON introduced the AEON STYLE Supermarket at Setia EcoHill, Semenyih. Several other new openings are also planned for this year, including AEON KL Midtown, located in KL Metropolis, and an AEON STYLE Supermarket in Johor Bahru. At the same time, AEON continues to undertake refurbishment initiatives at selected outlets nationwide to modernise its retail environments.

At the event, the Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF) showcased its dedication to corporate social responsibility through a donation of RM30,000 to three charitable organisations, namely Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baitul Husna, Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Permata Camar, and Rapha Children’s Home.
