ASICS kicked off the first-ever MAGIC SPEED™ Relay at Aylezo Speedway, Glenmarie last weekend, drawing over 250 runners in a night full of speed, energy, and teamwork.
The relay brought together 42 running clubs, including ASICS Running Club Malaysia (ARC), Boom Sports Club, GODSPEED, Kelana Jaya Running Club (KJRC), Rise and Shine Crew, and more. Runners competed in a fast-paced night race inspired by Ekiden, the Japanese tradition of team relay racing that celebrates unity and shared purpose.
This event also debuted the all-new MAGIC SPEED™ 5, ASICS’ latest high-speed running shoe, built with FF LEAP™ midsole foam and a carbon plate for a lighter, more responsive race experience. Perfect for runners ready to activate their next gear.
To amp up the energy, ASICS turned the track into a visual spectacle. A 100-meter LED-highlighted stretch lit up the night, while the crowd rocked glowing wristbands, turning the stands into a pulsing sea of light.
The relay had two qualifying heats of 21 teams each, leading to a final round with 10 teams vying for the podium. RC Coaching took 1st place with RM3,000, Muhaizar Mohamad Running Club came 2nd (RM2,000), and Social Athletics grabbed 3rd (RM1,000).
During the prize-giving, ASICS Malaysia Country Manager Boon Tib Soom Nik said,
“Tonight is more than a race, it’s about unity, energy, and progress for Malaysia’s running community. The Ekiden-inspired relay and MAGIC SPEED™ 5 launch celebrate teamwork at its purest.”
The relay not only showcased ASICS’ innovative spirit, but also made running more inclusive, welcoming beginners and spectators alike, strengthening local running culture and brand loyalty.
The MAGIC SPEED™ 5, priced from RM829, hits stores on 22 January 2026. Want more running perks? Join OneASICS for exclusive benefits: ASICS One Membership.
