McDonald’s Malaysia Honours Teachers Across the Nation, Marking 10 Years of Appreciation

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 MAY 2026 – In recognition of Teachers’ Day on 16 May, McDonald’s Malaysia continues its tradition of celebrating educators, marking the tenth year of its nationwide Teachers’ Day initiative.

McDonald’s Malaysia recognises the important role teachers play in shaping future generations and contributing to the nation’s development. As such, celebrating educators has become a key part of its ongoing community engagement efforts, reflecting the brand’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.

In line with this, McDonald’s Malaysia will translate its commitment into action by leveraging more than 300 restaurants nationwide as community touchpoints, empowering each outlet to reach out to nearby schools and build closer connections with teachers through meaningful moments of appreciation within their communities.

Running throughout May, the campaign is expected to reach hundreds of schools and thousands of educators nationwide, reinforcing McDonald’s Malaysia’s role as a community partner that goes beyond serving customers to actively supporting the communities it operates in.

“Teachers play a fundamental role in shaping individuals and strengthening communities, with an impact that extends well beyond the classroom,” said Dato’ Haji Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia.

“For ten remarkable years, our Teachers’ Day initiative has grown into a nationwide effort that allows us to engage schools directly and deliver appreciation where it matters most. We believe it is our collective responsibility to ensure these pivotal figures feel truly valued and celebrated.”

This year’s campaign began with local activations in Penang earlier this month and is now being rolled out nationwide. The initiative will culminate in a main celebration at McDonald’s Titiwangsa Drive-Thru, bringing together educators from nearby schools for a special celebration in honour of their dedication and commitment. In a further gesture of support, McDonald’s will also make cash contributions to support the refurbishment and enhancement of staffroom facilities.

Since its inception in 2017, the Teachers’ Day initiative has been a cornerstone of Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s, which delivers over 10,000 community activities annually. From supporting families in need to recognising frontliners and educators, the programme reflects McDonald’s Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to making a positive, tangible difference in the lives of Malaysians.
