New Balance Ambassador Ann Pow Becomes First Malaysian Woman To Complete Ultraman Australia 2026

Malaysian endurance athlete and New Balance ambassador Ann Pow has officially become the first Malaysian woman to complete Ultraman Australia 2026, one of the world’s most demanding ultra-endurance races.

Held in Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, the three-day event challenged participants to complete a total distance of 515km across swimming, cycling, and running, a feat widely regarded as one of the toughest accomplishments in endurance sports.

The race began with a 10km open-water swim and a 145km cycling route on Day One, followed by an additional 276.1km cycling segment on Day Two. Participants then concluded the challenge with an 84.3km double-marathon run on the final day.

Ann crossed the finish line with an official time of 30:43:24, marking a major milestone not only in her personal athletic journey, but also for Malaysia’s growing presence in the global endurance sports scene.

Reflecting on the experience, Ann described Ultraman as a challenge that tested far more than physical strength.

“Preparing for Ultraman was unlike anything I had done before. It stripped everything back to patience, consistency, and learning how to stay calm in discomfort,” she shared.

According to Ann, the most difficult part of the journey was often mental rather than physical, especially during long periods of repetitive training that required discipline, trust in the process, and resilience despite slow or invisible progress.

While becoming the first Malaysian woman to complete Ultraman carries historical significance, Ann said the experience was ultimately rooted in personal growth and self-discovery.

“For me, Ultraman was always about the personal challenge, the opportunity to face something that felt bigger than me and to discover how far I could really go,” she said.

“Crossing that finish line was not about records, but about proving to myself that limits are often much further than we think.”

Throughout the three-day race, Ann endured prolonged physical exhaustion and mental fatigue, conditions that demanded exceptional focus and perseverance. Yet, her mindset remained grounded in a simple motivation:

“I just want to see how far I can go before I tell myself to stop.”
Following her successful completion of Ultraman Australia 2026, Ann is now setting her sights on future ultra-endurance events while prioritising recovery and long-term health.

She also hopes to continue representing Malaysia on the international stage and inspire more athletes to push beyond their perceived limits.

Ann Pow’s achievement stands as a defining moment in Malaysian endurance sports, highlighting the level of discipline, resilience, and determination required to compete at the highest level of ultra-endurance racing.
