British Council Launches New IELTS Test Centre at Taylor’s University

The British Council has inked a two-year partner contract with Taylor’s University for the institution to be an IELTS test centre to meet a growing need of requests in the Sunway area.

British Council Malaysia Director, Jazreel Goh, said the British Council is delighted to partner with Taylor’s University as it becomes a British Council IELTS Test Centre.

“This partnership is about much more than providing a test venue. It is about enabling aspirations, creating pathways and ultimately, it is about helping people realise their ambitions in an increasingly global world.

“By strengthening access to IELTS, we are helping students and professionals unlock pathways to international education, career development and global mobility,” she said.

Taylor’s University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Barry Winn said the partnership with the British Council reflects a shared belief in the importance of language as a foundation for learning, connection and opportunity

“As an official IELTS Test Centre, Taylor’s University is pleased to provide students and the wider community with greater access to an internationally recognised qualification. Together with TALK @Taylor’s, an integrated English and academic support hub, we are helping learners build the confidence and communication skills to thrive in their studies, careers and beyond,” he said.

The first session at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus was carried out on March 27, 2026, which saw the IELTS candidates completing the test successfully.

One of the inaugural batch of candidates was Zhamangulova Kanykei, who is currently pursuing her Master in Applied Computing degree at Taylor’s.

Zhamangulova said sitting for the IELTS test in a familiar environment made her feel much more comfortable and confident, which helped reduce the stress on the test day.

“Having the British Council IELTS Test Centre at Taylor’s is an excellent initiative. It is also very convenient for Taylor’s students to have access to an official test centre right on campus. Overall, I had a very positive experience. The staff were professional, friendly, and well organised, and the entire process ran smoothly. I especially really appreciated the supportive atmosphere throughout the exam,” she said.

The addition of Taylor’s University as the 16th IELTS test venue partner across Malaysia is part of the British Council’s efforts to broaden access to trusted language assessments that help individuals achieve their academic, professional, and migration goals.
