3,500 Join MR D.I.Y.’s Kuching Health Run to Promote Better Living

Around 3,500 participants came together at Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan for the Yayasan MR D.I.Y. Him & Her Health Run 2026, promoting healthier lifestyles while raising awareness for important health causes.

Held from 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., the event brought together participants aged between one and 70 years old, including families, individuals and running enthusiasts who took part in the community-focused initiative.

Following its first successful edition in Penang, the Kuching run marked the programme’s expansion into Sarawak, encouraging more Malaysians to prioritise physical health while supporting awareness efforts related to cancer and congenital heart disease.

A Morning of Health, Community and Giving Back

The event was officiated by Kuching South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, together with Dr. Zaleha Mohd Mydin and Sarawak State Health Department Deputy Director En. Banges Munga.
Dr. Zaleha highlighted that strong community participation showed the importance of making health and wellness initiatives accessible to everyone.

“Building healthier communities requires more than raising awareness. It means creating accessible opportunities for people to take positive action together,” she said.

Participants received exclusive event merchandise including a T-shirt, socks, race bib, finisher medal and trolley bag. The event also featured free health screenings, refreshments, lucky draws and medical stations to ensure participants’ safety throughout the run.

More Health Initiatives Ahead

After successful runs in Penang and Kuching, the Him & Her Health Run 2026 will continue with its final and biggest edition at Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC) on 17 October 2026.

The initiative is part of Yayasan MR D.I.Y.’s ongoing efforts to encourage healthier communities and make meaningful programmes accessible to more Malaysians.
