Japan Comes Alive at Pavilion Bukit Jalil

Pavilion Bukit Jalil has wrapped up the second edition of its month-long ‘Konnichiwa Japan Together, Here’ campaign with PAVILION x JAGAM Matsuri 2026, bringing Japanese culture, food, entertainment and interactive experiences under one roof.

Held from 31 July to 2 August, the three-day festival marked the grand finale of the month-long celebration, which ran from 1 July to 2 August 2026 in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026.

In collaboration with the Japan Graduates’ Association of Malaysia (JAGAM) and with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, Pavilion Bukit Jalil transformed into a lively Japanese cultural destination, offering visitors plenty of opportunities to eat, shop, explore and experience Japanese traditions.

A Japanese Marketplace Right in Bukit Jalil

One of the highlights was the Japanese Marketplace at Level 2, where visitors could browse Japanese snacks, treats, crafts and cultural experiences.

Among the highlights were authentic Japanese snacks from Shojikiya, a Matcha Corner by Ohcha Matcha and The Haven Club, the traditional Kingyo Scooping experience, Japanese arcade games by Metapark, and a Creative Handcraft Marketplace by Persatuan Seni Jahitan Kreatif Malaysia.

Over at PIAZZA on Level 3, the Moshi-Moshi Bazaar brought the feel of a Japanese street market to life with more than 120 booths featuring Japanese street food, desserts, lifestyle products, handmade creations and cultural experiences.

From Bon Odori to J-Pop

The festival also delivered a packed entertainment line-up, with visitors treated to performances by Malaysia-based J-pop idol group KLP48, Japanese singer-songwriter Kenichi Yamasaki, J-pop dance group The Jumpers, cosplay performers Mao Xian and Akiho, and comedian Mr. Cherry.

Traditional Japanese performances were also part of the celebration, including Wadaiko, Yosakoi Dance and Eisa Dance Okinawa, alongside a Kimono Fashion Show.
And of course, no Matsuri would be complete without Bon Odori, with shoppers invited to join the traditional Japanese dance throughout the celebration.

Culture, Craftsmanship and Plenty to Explore

Beyond the performances, visitors could take part in a range of hands-on experiences, including a Maguro Live Cutting Show with complimentary sashimi tasting for the first 500 shoppers, a Yukata Dressing Experience, Masaru Knives Malaysia Demonstration, The Art of Kimono Kitsuke, and a Cosplay Skit Contest.

A creative collaboration with UCSI University’s De Institute of Creative Arts and Design also saw ‘Tiny Dolls. Unexpected Places’ bring kawaii Japanese-inspired dolls to unexpected corners of the mall, encouraging visitors to discover, photograph and share their finds.

For shoppers, the celebration also came with exclusive rewards, including a Furoshiki Wrap with a minimum spend of RM300, or a TSUTAYA BOOKS Tote Bag and RM10 Shopping Voucher with a minimum spend of RM500 in a single receipt.

And Three Lucky Shoppers Won a Trip to Japan

The month-long celebration ended on another high note with the Konnichiwa Japan Spend & Win Contest, where three lucky Pavilion Bukit Jalil members each won a 7-day, 6-night holiday package to Japan for two, worth a total of RM80,000, sponsored by Joy Paradise.

With its second year now wrapped up, ‘Konnichiwa Japan Together, Here’ looks set to continue as one of Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s signature cultural celebrations bringing together Japanese traditions, modern pop culture, food, fashion and entertainment for Malaysians to experience closer to home.
