Malaysian YouTuber Changyong, who has more than one million subscribers, has been named Tainan Tourism Ambassador 2026, following his recent trip to the historic city in southern Taiwan.
Instead of rushing through the usual tourist attractions, Changyong explored Tainan the slower way through its food, old neighbourhoods, night markets, temples and everyday local life.
Basically, the kind of trip where you eat first and figure out the itinerary later.
Eat Your Way Through Tainan
If there is one thing Tainan takes seriously, it is food.
During his trip, Changyong checked out local eateries and traditional markets, including a stop for Squid Rice Noodle Soup, one of the city’s local favourites.
Beyond simply trying the food, he also got a glimpse into the people and traditions behind Tainan’s long-standing food culture.
And for Malaysians, the connection is pretty easy to see — food here is very much part of everyday life.
More Than Just Tourist Spots
Tainan may be famous for its history and temples, but there is plenty to explore beyond the usual sightseeing spots.
Changyong wandered through old neighbourhoods, creative markets and heritage buildings, checked out a vintage barbershop and even explored the city from the water on a canal cruise.
