Pavilion Malls & Pink Unity Support Breast Cancer Awareness Across Three Destinations

This Pink October, Pavilion Malls is bringing together its three Kuala Lumpur destinations to support breast cancer awareness and survivors. Through Fashion in Motion, a month-long fashion festival presented with the Malaysia Official Designers’ Association (MODA), the initiative supports Pink Unity, a women-led cancer support group under the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM).

Running from 1 to 31 October 2026, the campaign spans Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Damansara Heights and Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Its activities include a citywide solidarity walk, breast health screenings and fundraising initiatives, extending the malls’ reach beyond retail.

Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Malaysian women. According to NCSM, one in 19 Malaysian women is at risk of developing the disease during her lifetime.

76 Breast Cancer Survivors Unite for The Unstoppable Pink

On 10 October, 76 breast cancer survivors from Pink Unity gathered at Pavilion Damansara Heights’ Centre Court for a symbolic solidarity walk.

Accompanied by ballerinas and pink umbrellas, the group began its journey towards Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. They then boarded the Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT, turning an everyday commute into a show of solidarity for fellow passengers.

The participants continued on foot through Bukit Bintang before reaching Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s Crystal Fountain. The gathering concluded with The Unstoppable Pink, a symbolic moment that drew attention from shoppers, tourists and passersby.

In total, 161 participants joined the walk, including the 76 survivors.

“Seeing 76 survivors walk together through the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and so many people stopping to cheer them on, was one of the most moving moments of this campaign,” said Dato’ Joyce Yap, CEO (Retail) of Pavilion Malls.

“Their strength was impossible to miss, and it carried a simple message to every woman watching: early detection matters, and no one has to face this alone.

“If this walk gets even a few more women to book a screening or start that conversation at home, then it has done what we hoped it would.”

Fundraising and Breast Health Screenings Across Three Malls

Following the walk, Pavilion Damansara Heights continued the campaign with a Charity Hair Cut initiative, sponsored by R Beaute.

Shoppers could make a donation of their choice in exchange for a complimentary haircut or styling session, supporting the campaign while participating in a community-focused activity.

From 23 to 25 October, Pavilion Bukit Jalil will host the MURNI Mobile Clinic, a mobile breast screening unit operated by the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA).

Located at the mall’s Piazza alongside the Style Your Way Lifestyle Market, the clinic will offer shoppers free clinical breast examinations and breast health education through its distinctive pink mobile unit.

Dato’ Joyce said Pavilion Malls aims to use its retail destinations to raise awareness and encourage meaningful public participation.

“At Pavilion Malls, we believe our retail destinations can do more than bring people together for shopping and lifestyle experiences.

“Through Fashion in Motion, we are using our platform to give breast cancer survivors greater visibility and encourage the public to be part of a meaningful cause.

“From the solidarity walk through Kuala Lumpur to fundraising and breast health awareness initiatives across our malls, we want to turn awareness into action and make it easier for shoppers to show their support,” she said.

Pink Umbrella Initiative Aims to Raise RM68,000

Connecting all three destinations throughout October is the Pink Umbrella Fundraising Initiative.

Priced at RM68 each, the pink umbrellas are available at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Damansara Heights and Pavilion Bukit Jalil. All proceeds from umbrella sales will go directly to Pink Unity, with the campaign aiming to raise RM68,000 by the end of October.

Through Fashion in Motion and The Unstoppable Pink, Pavilion Malls continues to use its platforms to champion meaningful causes beyond retail, bringing communities together to support breast cancer awareness, survivors and early detection.
