Have any of you heard about the phrase of a potato cell phone? It is a phrase that usually raised by users who complain about the hardware performance of their cell phones.
Not just that, the phrase is also used as a mockery, to insinuate a smartphone that carries low specifications, or cannot run a variety of current generation games, such as PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends.
Although it is just a phrase, a guy in Indonesia made cell phones by using real potatoes. That guy was Khoirul Anam, a man from Magelang, Central Java
Anam has been viral on Facebook, because of his post featuring a cellphone that was made from potatoes.
According to KOMPAS, he decided to make a potato cell phone because his friends often mocked him when they hang out together. At a time like that, he always was called ‘potato phone’ because his cellphone could not be used to play games with his friends.
“When hanging out with my friends who are busy playing games, I usually daydream because I want to install the game,” said Anam to KOMPAS.

Despite using a potato, the phone was not entirely made from it. Anam also relies on various components, such as LCD, keypads, batteries, and many more from an old cellphone that he had used before, which is the Nokia 3310.
All the components then combined with the potato that he has already carved. Anam said it only takes 10 minutes to make the potato phone.

Although looks like a real phone, Anam claimed he made it just for jokes. That is, the cellphone is not turned on as is like a mobile device in general.
“Making the potato cell phone is just for fun, it can be done if (the potato) is made into a cellphone casing and the cell phone functions as usual, but the potatoes (later) will turn black after several hours,” said Anam.
Unfortunately, Anam added that the potato cell phone was not with him anymore. “The potatoes are now cooked by my mother,” Anam said while laughing.
