Deputy Minister Urges People To Fly The Jalur Gemilang

KUALA LUMPUR,  July 17  — Malaysians have been urged to continue being patriotic to the country by flying the Jalur Gemilang.

Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Santhara Kumar said society must do this as a sign of appreciation and gratitude towards the nation which has ensured peace and harmony among the people all this while and more so as the country is still affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Sometimes when I ask my colleagues, they say they are flying the Jalur Gemilang in their hearts every day, thereby we understand that people have various ways to show loyalty to the country.

“However, it is better to fly the Jalur Gemilang on vehicles or on buildings and houses. First of all, we have to understand Rukun Negara,” he told a press conference after launching the Info On Wheels – Merdeka (IOW) program, today.

In the meantime, he said the programme has also been done in schools in collaboration with the Education Department throughout the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.

The IOW program announces information on government initiatives carried out via mobile units and encourages the installation of the Jalur Gemilang as well as asking the people to upload Merdeka images on their respective social media platforms.

The program, which began yesterday until Aug 30, targeted community areas, government departments or agencies, and public locations and will be held four times a week with the distribution and installation of 50 units of flags for one program.
