COVID-19 infection figures worldwide now have over 18.6 million cases. Johns Hopkins University’s latest data shows there has been an increase of over 210,000 new cases in 24 hours.
The United States (US) remains the worst affected country with 4.8 million positive cases.
This was followed by Brazil with positive cases of infection of 2.8 million cases and India with 1.9 million cases. Russia and South Africa surpassed half a million infections with 864,000 cases and 521,000 cases, respectively.
Seven other countries including Mexico, Peru, Chile, Iran, Columbia, United Kingdom, and Spain each passed the 300,000 COVID-19 positive cases each.
Meanwhile, eight other countries recorded positive numbers in excess of 200,000, namely Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Italy, Bangladesh, Turkey, France, Germany, and Argentina.
Iraq, Canada, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Qatar recorded more than 100,000 cases of infection.
Other countries still record COVID-19 infection figures below 100,000 cases.
