Cristiano Ronaldo, a current Juventus star, who already has hotels in Madeira, Lisbon, Madrid, New York, Marrakesh, and Paris but has planned for another quite soon.
Teamed up with Pestana, a Portuguese leisure and tourism company, and Ronaldo also has submitted proposals for a 151-bedroom hotel in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens.
The ‘CR7 Pestana’ would be open in 2023 and cost around $35 million if granted planning permission.
Ronaldo spent six years at Old Trafford, scoring 119 goals and winning nine trophies to become a firm fan favorite.
A post on Pestana’s website explains why the forward wanted to make Manchester the home of his next hotel.
“It couldn’t be more appropriate – after all, this is the city where Cristiano Ronaldo started his international career in Man United back in 2003 and where he first used number 7,” the post on Pestana’s website said.
“Besides football, Manchester is known by the music scene, the birthplace of the industrial revolution, and one of the largest Chinese communities in Europe.”
Proposals would see two buildings redeveloped and replaced by an 11-story tower that would have 151-rooms, a bar and cafe, basement gym, and roof terrace.
