A famous preacher and ulama in Indonesia, Syekh Ali Jaber was stabbed on his right arm by a man while he was at his preaching ceremony at the Falahuddin Mosque, Bandar Lampung on 13 September.
Syekh Ali Jaber is a Muslim scholar who was born in Madinah, and currently residing in Indonesia and has Indonesian citizenship.
According to an interview with him by tvOneNews, Ali Jaber wasn’t expecting anything at first as it was one of his usual preaching ceremonies. Before the incident happened, he was calling for a young girl to the stage to recite Qur’an as it was a ceremony to congratulate those who managed to memorize Qur’an.
As he was about to take a picture with the young girl and her mother, an unknown man ran to the stage. He was holding a knife and pointing it towards Ali Jaber.
He felt blessed that he would able to notice the man earlier and the man only managed to stab his right arm. The incident could get worst if he didn’t realize what is happening at that time as the man could potentially stab his neck or his chest.
Ali Jaber assumed that the man was not one of the participants of the ceremony. The perpetrator managed to be caught by the audience of the ceremony. Later, he was sent to the police station.
He also said that the incident happened only about 15 minutes after the ceremony started. From the incident, he got a deep wound and was treated at a hospital. It needs 10 stitches to cover the wound. It is hoped that the authorities will process the incident according to the law.
