Many parents have been giving a lot of concern and also attention to really childproof their own home so that they could protect their children from all of the indoor incidents that could happen. Unfortunately, bad things can happen when we are least expected it to happen. Someone’s experience can definitely be a lesson for all the parents out there.
As one of the posting shared by a Facebook user named Nadiah Hashim, she talked about the accident that happened to her 4-year-old child who was hit by a fluorescent lamp at her home. This tragic incident really shocks the whole family. They could not even predict that such a thing could happen to her beloved child.
Fortunately, luck was on their side as their little girl did not experience a serious injury. After getting a few stitches because of the wound, she becomes normal and active again.
Assalamualaikum. Today, I do not want to talk about what kind of mess my child made. Since it is the month of October, I want to reminisce back my dark tragedy that happened to my family on the 17th of October 2017.
At that time, Hana was just 11 months old. We usually slept together in the living room on the mattress because we wanted to avoid our child from falling out of the bed. In the evening, after I showered Hana, I laid her down on that mattress. I turned my back just for a while to fetch the sleeping attire of hers. When I turned my back, that is when I suddenly heard a loud thumping sound. I immediately when to the kitchen to check on it because I thought the loud sound came from there. When I looked back to the front, I saw the casing of the fluorescent lamp hit Hana.
All the glasses shattered everywhere. The casing of the lamp can be seen bend. The fluorescent lamp was perfectly placed on the ceiling before. No sign that it would fall off. Hana suddenly became quiet. I quickly picked her up and shocked to see there was a big chunk of glass stuck on her forehead while there are a lot of shattered glass scattered all over her head, face and also inside of her ear. Her blood flowed like water. I panicked so hard while screaming at the top of my lung calling for my husband. He quickly wrapped Hana using a towel and he put a diaper on Hana’s head to stop the blood from flowing out.
On the way to the hospital, I managed to take out the shattered glass from inside of Hana’s ear, eyes, and also on the face. When we arrived at the hospital, the Doctor washed her head, bandaged her forehead. Hana had to fast starting at 10 o’clock in the evening because she had to go to the Operation Theatre in the next morning.
I pitied Hana because she cried all night because she was thirsty for milk. The next day, I accompanied Hana into the Operation Theatre so that Doctor could give her gas to make Hana faint. When Doctor asked me to leave, I feel so sorrowful to be leaving Hana faint there by herself.
I felt so relieved when everything is done. The doctor showed me the huge chunk of glass that went deep into Hana’s forehead. It is quite huge. There was 3 glass. Alhamdulillah, Hana has been a strong girl throughout the recovery process. Next month, she will become 4 years old already. Pray so that Hana would always be healthy okay uncles and aunties.
Lesson learned for me, we might have been doing our best to protect our children. But, if it is meant to be, it will be and we have to be patient, be grateful and look things that happened positively. This incident really made me become more careful and appreciate my children more because we never know when Allah is going to take them from us. They are just something that Allah lends for us. Thank You for willing to read this posting.
