Driving on the road can indeed expose us to various accident risks due to several factors. This situation can get worse when we are in unpredictable weather situations.

Among them is being in heavy rain. The scenery for the driver will certainly be difficult to see due to the dangerous situation.

Aware of that, there are some tips that can be followed as shared on the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) Twitter page. Here are some tips that can be used if you are driving in heavy rain:

1. Avoid pressing the brakes if your vehicle slides.
Let your vehicle slide and use the steering wheel to steer your vehicle in a safe direction from all obstacles.

2. Avoid driving in the right lane.
Other vehicles coming from the opposite direction may collide with puddles of water and cause splashes to fill the windshield of the car and obstruct your vision.

3. Stop at the rest stop.
avoid accidents if it rains heavily and vision is affected by fog and dark weather.

4. Do not drive too close to the vehicle in front.
The road becomes slippery during the rain and if the vehicle in front of you presses the brakes abruptly, you may not have enough time to stop.

5. Do not turn on the danger warning light.
It can only be used when your car is stopped for emergency reasons.

6. Drive the vehicle slowly.
Speeding above 80 km/h will cause your vehicle to slide. It occurs when the tire is unable to grip the road surface and the vehicle causes the vehicle to be driven to slide forward.
