Yuna Responds To Netizens Who Criticise Her Relationship With Islam

Yuna is one of the most famous Malaysian celebrities that have been known worldwide. Because of this, she has been such an inspiration to all the Malaysians by breaking all the stereotypes in the music industry and also for making all the Malaysians proud on a global platform. It is not an easy job to get to the position where she proudly is now.

Even though with all the success that she has achieved all these while, she also is a normal human being who has to face a lot of challenges and struggles thrown towards her especially by other people. This humble superstar also admits that she once felt very pressured to uphold a certain image to please those who would judge her religious life.

Recently, she has posted an Instagram story where she responds to all the haters that judge her real relationship with Islam religion. Yuna said, “I don’t strive to show people I’m a good Muslim”. She also added, “My journey as a Muslim woman in the music industry has been an interesting one. When I was younger, I stressed myself out trying to please the conservative Malay Muslims”.

After 15 years of her life in the music industry, Yuna could firmly say that she has learned a lot for herself. She opened up about why she chooses to keep her religious life private. Yuna mentioned, “My relationship with Islam is beautiful & personal, it’s not for the show especially on social media”. She also added, “That’s why you don’t see me posting selfies of me in the telekung, praying, reading the Quran,” she added. “I don’t strive to show people I’m a good Muslim”.

In addition, Yuna also pointed out that there was a distinction between showing and actually doing. The famous singer continues to advise all of her fans against trying to please everybody. She said, “No matter how hard you try to please people, it will never be enough for them. Don’t send yourself into depression for this”.

Yuna also took the time to say that our society can’t fully embrace the saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover” just because “we are obsessed with the perfect Muslim picture”. But she tries not to let this affect her and her perspective of the world.
