The beloved author-illustrator, Eric Carle has passed away at age 91 due to kidney failure. The sad news broke many hearts of Eric Carle’s fans when it was shared by Penguin Kids Books on social media. The writer-illustrator wrote more than 70 books for children and sold about 170 million copies.
His best work was ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. It was a story about a caterpillar who eats a variety of fruits and foods before transforming into a butterfly. It was published since 1969 and has sold more than 55 million copies internationally.
The story was about the very same caterpillar gnawing on one apple, two pears, and a lot more until it’s full. It has lived in the hearts of kids and their parents for generations now.
Carle died on Sunday at his summer studio in Northampton, Massachusettes, writes the Washington Post.
