It is pretty obvious that everyone is hooked up on The Conjuring Universe Movies from when it was a single movie and now there are 3 sequences. There is even the right chronological order to watch them now!
Michael Chaves’s supernatural horror film, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It was originally slated to be out in September 2020 but due to the global pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus, it was postponed to the 4th of June 2021. The film has grossed $57 million with a budget of $39 million and received mixed reviews from critics.
What ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’ Is About:
Different from The Conjuring 1 and The Conjuring 2, this sequel is no longer about haunted houses. It may revolve around it a bit, but it mainly focuses and based on the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson that took place in 1981 Connecticut.
The famous Ed And Lorraine Warren once again performs an exorcism but this time to an 8-year-old David Glatzel. It was attended by the kid’s family, his sister Debbie, her boyfriend Arne Johnson, and Father Gordon of Brookfield, Connecticut. While David was struggling when he was possessed during the exorcism, Arne invites the demon to enter his body and Ed witnessed the demon went from David to Arne.
In the aftermath of the daunting event, under the influence of demonic possession, Arne commits a horrific murder where he stabbed his landlord, Bruno Sauls repeatedly 22 times. With help from the Warrens couple, Arne’s case becomes the first case in the United States that used demonic possession as a defense in a court case hence the title of this horror film.
Later on, The Warrens discovered a satanic curse that was passed on through a witch’s totem, believed to be caused by an occultist. They located her to stop her from doing any more damage to Arne.

What Can Be Said About ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’ :
It is unclear why this sequel is a bit off than the other The Conjuring movies but definitely not because of the change of director. The Conjuring 1 and The Conjuring 2 were directed by James Wan but for this sequel, the director of The Curse of La Llorona took over. Most probably it was caused by the change of focus from haunting houses to a murder.
Nevertheless, the scary jumps and the chilling scenes are still good enough to make the audience spooked.
Other than the scary elements that are crucial to horror movies, there is a scene where it shows that the love between the Warrens couple once again, saved both of them. It is clear that their unusual abilities aren’t the only thing that helped them throughout their years of journey in paranormal activities but their strong and growing love, too.
As of today, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It received 6.5/10 ratings on IMDb website.
