KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 — The Road Transport Department (RTD) is offering a discount of up to 70 per cent on all compoundable summonses from August 18 to September 16.
The RTD said in a statement today that summonses that could not be compounded were cases that are still under mention in the courts, including those with the status of arrest warrants or trial.
It said the discount was being offered in conjunction with the 64th National Day celebration themed ‘Malaysia Prihatin’ this year.
“The reduction is for all summonses issued under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334) as well as other rules and orders under it, including cases that are still blacklisted.
“The discount on the summonses is based on the current compound rates fixed in the JPJ’s mySIKAP system,” it said.
The offer is also extended to summonses that are still active and which are still valid provided payment is made within the offer period.
The summonses can be paid at all state RTD offices and branches, Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) outlets, kiosks and online via the mySIKAP JPJ portal at https://public.jpj.gov.my/.
“However, for blacklisted cases, the offenders are required to present themselves at the RTD office (branch or state) for documentation process before payment can be made,” it said.
The department said the discount was aimed at reducing the financial burden of the people, who have been affected by the economic issues brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
