On October 16, a man identified simply as “Sunwear” posted on the Weibo social media platform that he had withdrawn nearly five million renminbi ($783,000) in banknotes from the Bank of Shanghai after obtaining “worst customer service.” The security personnel had an “awful attitude,” he wrote.

The amount is the maximum cash that may be withdrawn, but the millionaire reportedly stated that he intends to return every day until all of his savings have been gone, with workers counting it by hand each time. The millionaire shared his displeasure with the bank’s service on social media, but he did not elaborate on his side of the story.
The bank in Shanghai, China, stated, however, that the incident was just the result of a security guard asking the man to wear a face mask.
On Chinese social media, images of the millionaire piling wads of $100 (£11.30) bills into cases and transporting them to his fancy car have gone viral. As a result of his article, ‘Sunwear’s’ internet following has reportedly grown to 1.7 million.

He said that preparing his massive withdrawal with a single currency counter took two bank employees two hours. The bank said that “the client’s (complaint implied) he had higher expectations of financial services,” despite the fact that no staff member had broken any customer service criteria.
The big withdrawal, according to the bank, was caused by a disagreement between the customer and a security guard concerning COVID-19 protocols. Sunwear was not wearing a mask when he approached the branch, according to a statement released by the Bank of Shanghai and reported by the Chinese media site The Paper. According to the statement, a security guard then told him to put one on.
Sunwear later admitted on Weibo that he had forgotten his mask and requested for a replacement or a location where he could buy one. He stated that he did not refuse to wear a mask and that he followed COVID-19 guidelines.
