New Zealand has recently decided that it would reopen its border from next month. This decision is actually earlier than expected as it has been brought forward. The reopening is the decision after more than two years of lockdown.
As stated on the BBC website, the country would be accepting fully vaccinated travelers. Other than that, all of them also would have to prove a negative COVID test. For those who might not know, New Zealand has been shutting its own border since the month of March 2020. The only permitted travel is the short-lived travel bubble with Australia.
Jacinda Ardern who is the Prime Minister said, “We have now received guidance that it is safe to significantly bring forward the next stage of border reopening work, bringing back our tourists”. It is ready to welcome tourists back.
The Sydney Morning Herald website has reported that Jacinda Ardern got announced New Zealand would reopen its previously shut down border to all of the vaccinated Australian tourists exactly from 11.59 pm on the 12th of April.
She also explained this. The decision to reopen the border would help their struggling tourism industry right now.
