Authorities in California said that two dogs killed an 80-year-old woman while she was out for a stroll.
In a news release, the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department said that deputies found the 80-year-old woman unresponsive in a road in the desert town of Blady Mesa.
They believe that she was taking a stroll when two dogs from a house attacked her. Deputies also said the dogs caused her “major injuries,” and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The dogs, both Dogo Argentinos, were taken in by San Bernardino County Animal Control. They will be held until the investigation is over and and a hearing is held, officials said.
Dogos Argentinos are strong hunting dogs, according to the American Kennel Club. They have been used in search and rescue, in the military and police, and as service dogs. They also said that they make “great house pets,” but warned that they are only fit for the “right owners”.
For your information, the Dogo Argentino will find the chosen prey, attack it, and then hold it for their human hunting partner. So, among dog breeds, their jaws and bite force need to be very strong. In addition to that, Dogo Argentino has a bite force of 500 PSI.
