The Queen, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billal Shah visited Gardens by the Bay in Singapore last night. Gardens by the Bay is one of Singapore’s popular tourist destinations.
The garden thrives on the concept of urban agriculture, and it’s in the four-day plan of the King and Queen to visit this beautiful tourist spot and other places in Singapore.
Gardens by the Bay is a horticultural park developed in 2007. Its purpose is to educate visitors on rare plants. Also, some species grow in cool and temperate climates, along with other species that could be found in tropical forests are in this garden.
The King, the Queen and their daughter, Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah, began their visit at Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), Empress Palace before they arrived at the garden.
In addition, Datuk Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, Malaysia’s Commissioner to Singapore, Vanu Gopala Menon, Singapore’s Commissioner to Malaysia, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, and Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, accompanied the King, Queen, and their daughter.
ACM is an ancient museum in Asia that includes Singapore’s authentic decorations. It’s the only museum in Asia that utilises the concept of scope pan-Asia, emphasising the history, culture, civilisation, and commerce between Asian countries and the world.
At 3 pm, the King, Queen, and their daughter head to Edible Garden City (EGC). Located near Queenstown, it’s also an urban agricultural garden in the heart of Singapore.
While they visited EGC, the King and Queen showed interest in a few gardens. For instance, Sensory Garden and Rock Garden caught their attention. Accompanying them both was the EGC’s Chief Executive Officer, Samuell Ang.
EGC is a social firm that advocates ‘grow-your-own-food’ or grow your ingredients. This movement is to increase the food source while promoting agricultural practices in Singapore.
