Persis Solo, Indonesia Club Accepted The Invitation To JDT Training Camp

Persis Solo, an Indonesian football club based in the city of Surakarta, Central Java, has received an invitation to a training camp with Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).

A total of 26 players will be brought to the training camp and undergo two sessions of friendly matches with the nine-time Super League champions starting tomorrow until Nov 18, according to the club in a statement.

Persis Solo will also conduct comparative studies and research related to club governance, support infrastructure, academy systems, and management applied by JDT.

“We believe the governance of professional clubs in the modern football industry can be learned from JDT who won various domestic championships and achievements in Asia within a decade,”

Persis Solo Management is led by Kaesang Pangarep, President Joko Widodo’s youngest son as Chief Executive Officer, whose shares are also owned by billionaire and Minister of State-Owned Industries Erick Thohir.

Former assistant coach at JDT Leonardo Medina was on Sunday appointed as the club’s new coach and is now working to ensure the players’ physical aspects are in top condition.

On the other hand, the Indonesian League is still suspended by the government following the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium on Oct 1 which claimed 135 lives.

Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya ended, sparking a stampede at the exit of the stadium as fans panicked.
