Ever since COVID-19 hit the world, many people have lost their job. Due to this, it gives a chance for modus operandi to scam people with enticing jobs.
Some people might not think enough of the job. When they see that the job can provide for them and their families, they become blinded and accepted the job. Nevertheless, the people behind the job might have bad attention to you.
Thus, to not let the public fall into the trap of job fraud, @MOFmalaysia shared the modus operandi of job frauds that are common on the line:
Three modus operandi on job frauds
1) They will ask for payment or access to your bank account. To make it believable, they will mention that the information is for the job application process.
2) They will ask you to buy from an e-commerce platform in order for you to get a commission.
3) They will give you links or URLs that contain malware to get access to your private account or bank information.
The links and URLs are quite tricky to detect if they are real or scams. To know if the links and URLs are genuine, we usually compare them to government links. Nevertheless, the modus operandi is witty because they create links and URLs that are almost similar to the government’s.
See the difference below:
Genuine: bnm.gov.my
Fraud: banknegaramalaysiaa.gov.my
They use ‘gov.my’ to trap you!
Besides that, you should also stay alert with links that do not have an ‘s’ in the ‘https:/.’ It might be a fraud.
Genuine: https:/
Fraud: http:/
Thus, if you are offered a job, but are unsure of the job’s source, it is best to ignore it. You need to block the number and report it as spam.
